the dispensary of Brussels |
The dispensary in Brussels, the first of the Foundation Prince Laurent, opened in the heart of the "Marolles" on 18 december 1996, in the vaulted cellars of the old firestation. At the beginning there was only one visiting-room and a very small space for surgery. The growing number of animals made it necessary to double the space in 2002. The dispensary has now two visiting-rooms, a large and fully equipped operation-room, an X-ray-room, a laboratory for development, a post-operative awakening-room and a large intensive care unit. |

The team with two veterinary doctors provides, in general, free treatment, as well preventive (sterilisation, castration and vaccination) as curative (with heavy surgery) for the sick and wounded animals of the homeless and people with a minimum income. | |
There is also a service for ultrasound examination for the four dispensaries and one for bonesurgery for the dispensaries of Antwerp and Hornu. One of the doctors is specialised in osteopathy and acupuncture. All this heightens the therapeutic quality of the Brussels dispensary. The medical team is assisted by seven volunteers for the administration, reception of new patients and the control of terms of access. |
